I always remind writers to showcase your published content so potential clients can read what you’ve wrote and evaluate if you’re the right fit to contribute to their business. And I always try to practice what I preach.
Here’s a selection of outlets that recently published my work in the past few months:
For BBC News’ Business section, I investigated the many businesses affected by the toned-down Halloween season, such as costume makers and candy manufacturers. I’ve now been with the BBC News freelance team for more than four years, and in 2021 I have two articles forthcoming, in the Technology of Business and The New Tech Economy section.
I wrote once again for Fodor’s this fall, and in this piece I tracked the top destinations for digital nomads seeking to work remotely at an overseas hotspot such as Barbados or Thailand. I admit, it was tough not to pack up my bags and head to one of those sunny areas myself, considering the wintry weather ahead for me in Toronto.
Lastly, my work writing for alumni publications ramped up in 2020, such as this interview with James Colliander, CEO of grading-software firm Crowdmark, published in Macalester Magazine. More than 50 million pages at post-secondary institutions around the world have been graded on the company’s software. Teachers in the 90s are likely wondering, “Jeez, where was this guy 30 years ago?!”
I’ll keep you updated on my next batch of published articles in the December 2020 instalment of this series. Also, if you’re curious how YOU can get published in these top-shelf publications, head to my Coaching page on this site.
